I've been getting shit on regularly. Horde usually have atleast one full group roaming the zone killing everything they see. The lower level horde will be in groups questing. I've seen a bunch of horde with 60 baby sitters that instagib you if your anywhere near them. I got camped for 3 hours in searing gorge at 3am when I was level 47, not even worth honor to a 60.

You'll see a bunch of alliance crying about it in chat, but dont group up or try to defend themselves. Cry babies

The problem is that you can't keep the gankers out. There are 5-15 bottom-feeding rogues insta-killing lowbies/questers/PvE'ers in all zones at all times, and when you kill thhem, they just come back 5 seconds later. Unless you have someone willing to babysit, it's impossible to keep them out.

The same is true of general gank squads. I just watched Obsidian clear out Searing Gorge (with 6 people, lol) a few minutes ago. The 900 separate Horde gank squads are already back at it. "Zone control" comes down to how many 60s each realm has that want to roam and honour farm 16 hours a day.

Pros to playing this game again:
    • Can play with beloved TZT pals
    • Won't drive wife crazy on nights when we're not working and I'm incapable of relaxing
    • Solid cost-value return (hundreds of hours of entertainment value for $15/month)
    • Won't feel like I'm missing out on something my friends are enjoying
    • Can push buttons to beat other players and feel proud of myself
    Cons:
    • About as likely to play this casually as an alcoholic is to drink one beer a night
    • Just as likely to get roped into obsessive grinding of PvP ranks and playing past the point that I'm enjoying it
    • Have to sit in my chair in a dark room locked into the Hunchback Gamer Position to enjoy this activity
    • Not a "productive" leisure activity and will stress me out occasionally
    • If I ever want to quit again or not play for a while, it'll simultaneously feel like abandoning my children and trying to leave the mafia.

I really wanted to play when I heard they were going to do a classic server, but I'm with Sear on most of his cons + just don't have the time. An 8-year-old will suck a good portion of the day and after we put her down my wife and I like to watch a tv show and have some adult time, which leaves very little for gaming. Usually about an hour of rainbow six siege and that's about it.

As much as I think WoW is a big reason why MMOs took a turn down, that was mostly because everyone wanted to build WoW clones. I had a blast playing and missed the non-expansion WoW era so it would be fun to see it. Just can't see doing another MMO tho.

Also, one problem I have with gaming these days is I constantly think how I would do the game differently or how Feature X would really be cool in this game, etc. Which makes me want to develop a new game. And I'm trying to stay away from doing any more roguelikes.. haha.

I've actually managed to not play any RPG'ish type game at all for a few months now just because I know I'm a fucking addict and can't reasonably limit playing to healthy levels. Same for certain turn-based-strategy games. I find myself only playing games that are either designed to be short/easy or even ones that I'm very likely to tire of (which is weird, I'm picking games that are borderline shitty for me to limit my playtime lol)

Vidya on the table for the night as well as some St. Bernardus Christmas Ale. I will most likely open the windows and turn the heat on creating the perfect climate for vidya. It is going to be 44° tonight which means there will be mass casualties in Florida and I wont be one of them. This will make M'lady enraged but I will live with my choices. This is the way.
    1. WoW if it isn't dogshit busy. I must blast through the low 40's because those are the worst levels
    2. Escape from Tarkov will dominate my play time because I am a tough rugged man who enjoys hardcore pvp
    3. Maybe try out GTFO alpha
    4. Prepare for the annual drunk Golf It tournament. The trophy is mine this year.
    5. Hell Let Loose because I haven't played a PTSD simulator in awhile. The cold weather while storming Foy should complete my IMMERSION but I can always put on my active shooter helmet for added bonus.

Golf It is funny as hell to play w/pals and by funny I mean somehow you momentarily forget you're playing a fucking GOLF game and you want to strangle them.

I picked up a bottle of St. Bernadus Christmas Ale at the Total Wine last week. Going to crack it open today or tomorrow. Might be my favorite beer. Definitely top 3.
