You get a dopamine rush from eating foods you like, so I think that makes sense.
I had one of my teeth pulled last Tuesday so I've been eating soft food for the past week and chewing exclusively on one side of my mouth. Not that this is in any way comparable to your recovery, but I gotta say that it really fucking takes the joy out of eating. I think I've lost weight because I don't even want to do it. Most of my diet has been mashed potatoes and protein shakes.
Because thats pretty much all they let you eat for a while. Then soup.
Man, I had my upper back right molar pulled like 5 years ago. My bite has gone to shit, My mouth feels like a jumble of teeth all misplaced now and I chomp my tongue all the time. I feel like I need braces now, hell my whole jaw is fucked. I wake up with my left ear aching and a loud pop happens when I open my mouth in the morning. Good luck Sear!
What I've found now, by not only reading all the guidelines they gave me, as well as endless posts on bariatric forums and reddit..... there is no one standard for post-op recovery diet. I mean yeah, generally speaking there are stages 1 through 4, with increasing amounts of solid food, and generally speaking, stage 1 is clear liquid only (some say jello is okay), ans stage 4 is pretty much back to "normal" food w/out any starchy carbs. But the exact things permitted in each stage, and how long each stage lasts, varies tremendously from clinic to clinic.
For my program, Stage 1 is only 3 days, and you're actually clear to start eating stuff like yogurt and cream of wheat after that. Lots of people seem to have a week or even 2 weeks of Stage 1. It only gets more varied from there. I'm guessing it's hard to find a program that really works for everyone since individuals vary so much.
Like I've had zero nausea, little pain, and have tolerated everything pretty much. None of my tastes have changed either. On the other end of the spectrum, I've seen plenty of people who were puking from the beginning, barely able to hold down anything, unable to even swallow their pain pills. Some people swear they can't drink plain water w/out barfing it up, and have to add crystal light to make it stay. People's guts be weird basically. I feel pretty fortunate mine is aparently made of cast iron.
No one can Kill Utumno! We need a new plan to deal with an immortal.
Hey Fatumno, I just linked up with a local meal prep company where they cook all of the food and deliver it to your fat ass and all you have to do is pay and eat. You should do that so you don't become a fat fuck again post surgery.
bump since I'm too lazy to find the link to Utumno's blog
how has this surgery worked out for u pal? I'm assuming not too bad since we haven't heard any news of ur demise
40lbs down since surgery. (Probably a bit more by now, I'm trying not to weigh myself too often as it makes me obsess a bit much)
Things going well in general. It's weird having energy to do shit again, I mean I was vaguely aware that dragging my fat ass around was difficult, but wanting to be outdoors all the time and even enjoying going to the gym.... this is all kindof new to me lol. Still p fat of course but definitely down enough weight to make a pretty big lifestyle difference already.
How many steroids are you taking and what is your current deadlift?
All of them.
