I am looking at a new computer and these caught my eye on dell's "pre black friday sale".

    http://m.dell.com/mt/www.dell.com/ca/p/configuration-compare.aspx?un_jtt_v_un_comp=1&un_jtt_redirect

Are either one worth it? The $999 one comes with a 24" monitor.

Also, if they are a good deal are they good enough to pull the trigger or wait and see what black friday has to offer?

Edit: I dont know shit about computer hardware/value, i just play games on them.

watch a video on youtube.. i think newegg made one. just search 'newegg how to build computer' and should come up. i think it's 20 mins. if you watch it and still feel like you can't then so be it but it's pretty easy. maybe see if anyone can supervise you the first time you try just in case but i'm sureyou can do it.

even paying someone 100 bucks to build it for you with parts you bought with the help of tzt would be cheaper than buying premade in MOST cases.

I know one person who has pre built one, thats my stepfather and I am using it right now. Last year when it started to become out dated he bought one of these dell deals on black friday because he said he would rather pay a bit more money than have to go through building one again.

Is this one a better deal? http://m.dell.com/mt/www.dell.com/ca/p/xps-8700-se/pd?oc=dxps8700se_bt_h503e

It will be $999.99 tomorrow. The video card is a bit worse but the rest of the computer is quite a bit better.

you really want your video card to be good

video card - cpu - memory

can all bottleneck your system's performance. if one sucks, the whole system sucks.

your cpu should be good with i5, memory u want 8gb 1600mhz, video card u want gtx 760 or radeon r9 270

that should be around 500 bucks... add motherboard, case, hard drive, optical drive for 250..
    750 instead of 1k

I'm in the process of building my first computer. The final parts arrive tomorrow. Here are all the reference sites I've used and found helpful:

http://pcpartpicker.com/ - probably the single best site you'll use

    reddit.com/r/buildapc
reddit.com/r/buildapcsales I use the Canadian one though

    anandtech.com
    http://www.tomshardware.com/

http://www.jonnyguru.com/ solid site for PSU reviews
http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page541.htm Aggregate of all PSU reviewers
http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp Put in all your components and it'll tell what wattage psu you need

http://www.guru3d.com/ A general component review site

http://www.youtube.com/user/CareyHolzman Great, great site for building a pc videos, as well as Windows installation

Newegg and NCIX have some good videos as well as http://www.youtube.com/user/LinusTechTips

    sounds good

if you really want to see some fucking schweeeeeeet performance, throw a 128GB/256GB SSD in there and make that the drive you boot off of and the drive you have your games installed on

Since this seems to be the most often asked question-type around these parts, I am sticky-ing this post until I can pull the relevant data out, into it's own post.

The link to the "Falcon Guide" that's kept up to date is http://www.logicalincrements.com. Not sure why a link to a picture of the site contents is what's commonly tossed around. Everything you would need is there... even links to building a PC, detailed explanations, monitor and mice recommendations, etc.
