    If a McDonalds Employee all of a sudden starts driving around in a Lamborghini.... yeh. People will notice. Its also those kinds of dumb people who get caught. Their need to show off wealth without first manufacturing a plausible way of having created that wealth.

    What I am saying is that if more people begin using cryptos and it becomes more norm, it will become easier to launder &/or hide money.

    Hmmm... With BTC's recent jumps back into the $9k range and the increased number of Conferences in cryptos...

    Good times coming back?

    I wonder if Google will leverage their vast wealth and create their own Fiat pegged crypto. Seems to be the thing now. Apple & Samsung could create one that could be on a default crypto wallet they put on all their phones. Amazon could offer discounts with their own crypto, eliminating a lot of fees associated with merchant processing.

    @Czer

    That's exactly why many of us crypto people on here do not touch USDT. And why there's a rise in more stable coin choices. Binance I'm betting will completely move away from USDT once they launch their own Binance stable coin.

    Edit: Also, USDT charges some insane high percentage fee to convert any USDT back into fiat. So essentially 1 USDT is already worth less than its claimed fiat equivalent. When the Value of USDT starts to dip in the market place, Tether can use their BTC assets to buy back their USDT at the cheaper price until it reaches back to the $1 equivalent.

    Dapps Inc announces collaboration to use Chainlink. Never heard of them personally but something about salesforce smart contracts.

    I hadn't bothered reading it yet but here is the Libra white paper. Someone give me the cliff notes. Back to bed I go.

    https://libra.org/en-US/wp-content/uploads/sites/23/2019/06/LibraWhitePaper_en_US.pdf

    Meh. Just read some posts on Reddit. Seems you have to be ID’d to have a Libra wallet. Funds are controlled at all times and can be reversed in cases of fraud. Etc. Sounds literally like a paypal 2.0. And all those companies buying into it with their $10MM to operate a node will gain access to your spending history. Nope! Not for me.

    Oh, and Binance has issued a stable-crypto pegged to bitcoin. BTCB. Where 1 BTCB = 1 BTC. Backed by a reserve of bitcoin. Lol. Wtf is up with that? They’re now trying to switch out BTC for their own BTC equivalent? I dont get it.

    Its a completely centralized crypto where Binance has 100% control in its value. All they’d have to do is pull the plug on the trading pairs and can instantly crash BTCB’s value to nothing. They can just remove its reserve backing.

    I'm actually going to go full Fezgig here, but I may give Libra a slightly better than zero odds of being not total garbage.... I found out someone I've known for decades (smart, stand up dude, very principled guy) worked on it on the legal side (he's got tech background but took up law in the years after I worked w/him).

    I just can't see him being involved in something that was totally w/out merit. I'll probably give it a spin whenever it becomes available.

    I take back the Fezgig statement though I guess for full Fez effect I'd have to say I worked on it myself and was instrumental in it's development/launch lolololol :troll:

    Also this is kindof hilarious because these are things that all seem rly positive to me (unless ur buying drugs I guess the ID part is the main downside, but that depends on how accessible that ID is to law enforcement and under what circumstances). "Less chance of getting scammed to oblivion and having fraud protection... NOT FOR ME!"

    If this takes off, I wonder who's gonna want any of the other shitcoins except for ultra-libertarian turbonerds?

    @Utumno

    I try not to let any company know too much info on me and always create different logins instead of linking everything together like FB does with the “Log in with your FB acct” thing.

    Libra will literally further link everything together. Financial spending, credit cards spending, social profiles, travel, where you are, etc. I’d rather not have soo many things linked together in this information era.
