It was a good run.
The disaster that is dynamic queue and how riot is handling it. Pros are even refusing to play it and just playing on the tournament realm away from everyone else. Stifles challenger competition and really hurts the ability for up and comings to get into the scene. I suppose killing the esport aspect of league isn't the end of the world for riot since the majority of its money comes from casual players; but I do think the pro scene contributes a lot to the hype of casuals that watch it.
I think people are mostly frustrated with how wishy-washy riot is in every decision they make. Go all in with a pro esport (add a real sandbox, fix the horrible matchmaking, etc.) or tell people to fuck off, but the half assing just pisses off both sides. I suppose no game has had the staying power or success of league aside from original starcraft but it seems like league is self destructing from poor mismanagement rather than people just getting bored and moving on.
I was gonna edit and delete the above but meh I'll leave it. As a fan of the competitive scene riot has built I love watching it so the missteps frustrate me because i WANT it to succeed. It's great to watch and talk about with friends and it sucks we're all getting bored of it because of these anti-competitive changes.
i have feelings about dynamic queue and they are mixed kinds of feelings
Honestly it rarely has an effect on my games, it's frustrating going against a good group, and it's frustrating being with a bad group, but for about 99% of my games this season I haven't even noticed them. Might just have to do with my usual play times though, since I work at night I get most of my games in in the wee hours of the mornings on the weekends.
I like the new draft though, and being able to intentionally main something is entertaining, I've gotten way better than I was at it because of it.
