    New job in California

Drive across country from Florida with whole life in car + dog

Company pays for travel and puts me up in hotel for first two weeks in LA

Line up an apartment for after hotel stay expires (I didn't plan it, it just worked out perfectly that that was the first available move-in day for the apt)

Arrive at hotel after five days on the road

    No pets allowed

I brought her in the back door of the lobby and took her to my room anyway. Today is day 2 and no problems so far, but I'm on the second floor, so my luck is bound to run out on the elevator at some point

    A) has a chance of working out and leaves B and C as backups, but is annoying in the mean time
    B) This has the best and worst possible outcomes. I don't really like the idea of doing it but if no one wants to make a big issue out of it it would be nice
    C) I feel like the most likely outcome is they tell me it's not their problem since the hotel was specified in the relocation package I agreed to. There was no mention of pet policy in the package itself, but I'm sure the hotel website mentioned it.

Can you find a reasonable place to board her temporarily? Kennels with cages suck, but there should be lots of places where it’s basically summer camp for dogs.

I'd go with A if I was in that position, but don't take this as good advice.

It's not a problem unless they make it one, in which case you can make up some excuse (sry it's my friend's dog) and figure out what to do then.

the downside with A seems pretty severe, unclear how quickly they could kick you or your dog out

JP's suggestion / beseeching your company to be a person and put you up somewhere your dog can be seems a lot safer to me

I should mention that I'd call the company first and let them know your situation. If they can't do anything for you I'd go with A tho.

I’ve never heard of a hotel that allows pets. Just put it in a kennel like everyone else does when they go on holiday.

idk I like my dog too much to stick him in a kennel in an unfamiliar place in the care of people I don't know

+ that'd probably be at least $50/day in LA

It's Cali. I'm pretty sure your CEO could be hung if people found out he didn't care about your dog. That said, I'd just pay to put him in a doggy day care, petition your boss and see what happens.

Man, what a cuck. I see that it’s the dog that wears the pants around your house.

    That’s strange—they exist and aren’t rare.

I don’t know many people who’ve actually kennelled their dogs. Probably a class thing. Anyway I can’t afford it out here—definitely not before I start receiving paychecks. Euler’d be miserable anyway, even at a cushy place.

Rolling with A for now. My concern about C is that if I tell the company and they’re immovable on it, then I can’t just keep rolling with A OR try B, because if I try and it fails and I get kicked out, that’s going to get back to the company because it’s on their tab, and it’s gonna look real bad on me at that point

Dunno if it’s a class thing. I guess it’s just more common in Oz so the prices aren’t as high.
