So basically you are advocating for structurally racist gun control.
Sure. I don’t care how you want to frame it.
I’d rather we de-racialize gun violence altogether by tackling the economic, social, historical and political disadvantage that fuels it. But we can start by looking at gun legislation that will actually make a difference (a lot of it won’t. It’s complicated). Baby steps.
I thought conservatives conservatives wanted us to solve our own problems with firearms, why they want everyone to have them. See Texas, no permits or safety training required now, I'm sure gun crime is plummeting.
22 and a half years for Derek Chauvin. He's gonna be pretty high up in the white supremacist gang by the time he gets out
I think murder rates are the least of the dems problems for 2022
Yeah cause none will be allowed to get elected when your not allowed to vote as a minority in the country next election.
I was just poking fun at ideologically driven reasoning, because that was ripe for misinterpretation and could have gone either way in such a framework. Anything but a utilitarian/social good approach is strictly sub-optimal by design.
Come take my galleon libs
utilitarianism is sub-optimal
what y'all think about these categories? For anyone whose paid even the slightest bit of attention to my thoughts on whiteness in general I'm not certain I would create categories like this precisely but this could spark an interesting discussion. my main critique would be that there isn't a good paradigm for understanding culture and identity so even POC operate from assumptions they haven't inspected
1) A taxonomy is only as good as its usefulness in practice at separating groups that act differently or need different treatment somehow. Why 8 and not 3 or 9? How are these motivated?
2) I haven't seen compelling evidence that this focus on vilifying the color of people's skin, instead of just targeting concrete examples of structural discrimination (like disparities in unemployment, wealth, education etc) has succeeded with anything but alienating a large chunk of the population from your cause. I'm all for the latter, but vilifying "whiteness" is such a rabbit hole it would get zero support from me, and probably most people to the right of AOC.
I think those are pretty fluid. I think people might fall in many of those categories at different times depending on where they are, who they are with, what's going on in the media, or if its a full moon and Capricorn is in cancer. I'm all for stamping out bigotry, but I still don't think you can tell a group of black bigots because this happened in your past we will give you this, vs poor ass white bigots who have had terrible shit happen in their past that wasnt their own fault. I think the only way forward is a slow curve that will never fully resolve.
esp. when the entire legal system is in large part codified white supremacy, even when it's benefic
whose laws and whose ideas then? no one right? it jus happened like it happened and no one is to blame
Dam they missed my trash two weeks in a row. I might need to break out the bazooka.
I for one look forward to when these so-called "universal laws", subtly tainted by the color of the human who wrote them, can be replaced by a machine that hates all humans equally.
