    new mb -
    Asus Prime b360m-a

    Asus standard UEFI bios utility.

2 pics attached showing the ezmode bios.

    Menu shows SATA information.
    And to side Boot Priority.

No HDs (ssds and an had) will ever show up in boot priority. When boot options it clicked you get the message in other pic attached, no bootable drives recognized.

First tried the Drives in literal every configuration possible on the 6 sata ports with multiple different cables (just 1 drive, attempt on each sata port. Multiple, everything)

Next step was flash and update bios, already had laptop up on asus site trying to figure it out.

Funny thing here is the usb drive I plugged in does show up as a bootable device while the HDs still won’t.

Anyways, updated bios and still same problem.

That was the extent of 20 different Tom hardware topics and other forums with same issues and flash or different sata ports was the solution on all.

    But not here.

Also, going into advanced mode boot configuration and boot option priorities is grayed our and not available to do anything to.

Also it sortof seems you already tried all the things I'd normally try (update bios, try different SATA ports esp. if there is more than one controller).

Actually, is it just stating that there are no bootable devices because there are no boot partitions on it yet? What stage are you in here?

You're able to boot off USB but can't proceed with install because windows can't detect the drives?

So thanks to ASUS online support, pretty darn fast and decent I must say, like 3 minute wait to talk to someone and quick with replies.

Some silly ass bios setting, compatibility support module (CSM) in boot menu was set to disabled and needed to be enabled.
    that was it.

So no idea why that is a factory default setting, restored bios to default a few times in prob solve process. seems pretty important that you'd want to use a HD and have an OS for most computer uses.

My only guess maybe is this board has the m.2 hard drive stick spots, so maybe it's defaulted to what ever it's suppose to be for those.

    few upgrades

Was bored and bought new 34" LG IPS monitor cause why not, and figured eh, need to upgrade rest of the PC so got new cpu, board, and ram.
    I5-8400 6core, 16gb ddr4 3kmhz, and the above asus board.
Had asus gtx1060 6gb vid card i got about a year ago.

Nothing crazy but solid, the monitor is way overkill but nice as hell.

I had that issue the other day with an M.2. For some reason it was showing up as a PCIE and not SSD. You couldn't boot to it, but I was able to create a mirror image and it worked just fine. Also, by me, I mean my friend... so, don't really know anything other than what I shared.
