Who is pat bev and why is he getting roasted right now
What the fuck just happened.
Kawhi and Paul George:
10 for 38, 24 points (good lord that is bad)
15 for 26, 40 points (good lord that is good)
I was definitely not expecting the Clippers to Stephen Curry a 3-1 lead away.
I haven't followed on today's action, but Pat Bev is pretty well hated by a lot of people. Known to be a dirty player who has injured others (either intentionally or at the very least is repeatedly very reckless). Not a particularly great player in any category or physically gifted but plays very hard so is known as a "scrappy" which a lot of ppl translate into shitty player who contributes by flailing around the court on defense.
In particular, he's also a mad shit talker and despite being not great, acts like he's the big difference maker on whatever team he's on. So yeah, he gets a lot of shit. I can't stand the dude myself heh.
holy fuck i was too busy vidya gaming and missed everything... i can't believe Clips really pissed that away. incredible.
good for Denver.
Also this is probably homer-ish but I kinda feel like the Clips blowing this series is worse than GS in a way. At least GS lost to LeBron fucking James and had some major factors playing into it (Draymond suspended, Bogut out with injury, team pushed themselves too hard trying to set regular season record). I didn't watch this game though... any particular reason Clips shit the bed so bad?
Not like Nuggets are known as a great defensive team or anything.
example of pat bev shit talking that has come back to bite him
Inject this Clippers elimination into my veins. Dame shredding them on twatter is just icing on the cake. Yall think Kawhi is second guessing ditching Toronto yet? Maybe he'll go back. He can opt out of his contract next year.
I'm all in on the Fat Dirk Nuggets bandwagon.
he's the closest thing in the NBA to a cackling hobo
Known for trolling players who get mad easily. You might like him tbh, Red
I just really hope Beverley doesn't get dragged over this. Patrick Beverley’s son goes to my daughter’s school. He came in for career day and stayed all day to talk with the kids and sign autographs. It happened to be “science day” and the intoxicated PE teacher poked his head in the classroom and yelled “fucking nerds.” Pat without saying a word, grabbed one of the aborted snakes the kids were dissecting and headed for the door. We all watched through the classroom window as he beat the guy’s ass with it. My daughter and I now go to Clippers games and she makes a hissing noise every time he scores.
I do love a cackling hobo and a good troll is always amazing but purposely hurting another player is a real shitty move
That westbrook fella seems like a crybaby tho
Couldn't agree more with you there.
Wait for the slow-motion replay. That was one of the best blocks I've ever seen, I think (right up there with Lebron's legendary chasedown block). You don't see dunks get rejected right at the rim like that too often.
I'm enjoying this season's playoffs. I love that all of the favorites and star players except an old Lebron have been wiped out. Harden, Westbrook, Siakim, PG, Kawhi, and Giannis were all talked up as MVP candidates at different points during the season. And none of them made it to the conference finals. I love it.
Denver reminds me a little bit of that 2011 Dallas team. They're not getting any respect, either. All the talk is about how the Clippers choked instead of how good Jokic and Murray played.
After the exuberance Lakers fans showed when the Clippers got eliminated, it would be poetic justice if Denver made the finals. And a Denver vs. Miami finals would be a perfect ending to a bubble season- maybe it would show how much these teams rely on good home crowds and their ability to adapt to different stadiums and that in a sterile environment we might see different champions more often
Home court in the NBA is fairly extreme. It would be interesting to see what would happen if they removed it in normal circumstances. But there are a lot of possibilities.
We also may just see more upsets going forward, anyway, because the 3 point shot has far more variance imbedded into it. Jamal Murray is a below average shooter. Jokic is a *bad* shooter.
Jamall Murray: 10.4 3PA per game. 49.1%
Jokic: 8.2 3PA per game, 44.0%
They made the shots and they deserve the wins, of course, but you would expect some regression at some point. Neitherr of them are that good. I'm sceptical Jamal Murray could shoot 49.1% from 3 in an empty gym, let alone keep it up in NBA games.
Here, compare this:
to only 5 years ago:
We just may see a lot more variance as games revolve more and more around three-point shooting.
Pudgy Dirk gonna take it all the way
Interesting if ultimately Clips fell to freakishly good shooting from Fat Dirk and Murray. (And bad shooting from Kawhai and PG13, who... for all the shit he's getting is not a bad shooter at all). God /r/nba was hilarious in the roasting yesterday though, I spent a good chunk of the evening catching up and laughing my ass off.
I think Kanmuk is underestimating the HEART that it takes to WIN though. This is not about statistics, obviously it's about that Denver HEART and GRIT and DRIVE and WANTING IT MORE and playing a PHYSICAL GAME with PHYSICAL BALL
I know I'm usually the one to shit on cliches, but I actually wouldn't underestimate Denver's "HEART". I doubt many teams in the situations they found themselves in wouldn't just collapse.
The problem with "intangibles" isn't that they don't exist. in some form "Heart" and "Killer Instinct" are (probably) very real things. It's that without some form of measurement or real evidence to ground them in, they don't mean anything and people can just use them however they want. EG, you don't get to say someone is THE BEST CLOSER is they are bad in crunchtime. Even if you really like their body language during it. But that doesn't mean some people don't shy away from crunch time or whatever.
