I don't do much console or computer gaming anymore because I never clean my apartment and hate being home. Most gaming is now done on my iPad or IPhone like a six-year old girl with parents that don't love her.

I burned through the Square-Enix + Baldur's Gate Stuff. Anyone have any other mobile games they particularly like?

    I am NOT looking for:

    1) Puzzle games or "time waster" games
    2) Games you play for 3 minutes at a time while waiting for timers/have to play for 3 minutes at a time 12 different times a day to make progress

Any recommendations would be great, and I promise I will say nice things about you to my psychiatrist during my next session if you point me to a good game.

Doesn't Hearthstone require me to be not stupid + know things?

dude. Kanmuk. The game I am building is perfect for you. Unfortunately it's still about 5-6 months away from app stores.
Play Hearthstone til then. I'll hit you up when I need iOS beta testers.
(you can read about it & play a shitty PC demo on the GameDev forum)

God damn I laughed too hard @ that.

    My own picks:
    • Mangobile's "turn" series: Kingturn Underworld, Tactics Maiden, Kingturn, Kingturn Plus... probably enjoyed them in roughly that order. They look super cheesy but are surprisingly rewarding TBS with more loot/strategy/etc. than you'd guess.
    • Rimelands Hammer of Thor: My favorite recent game on ipad, kindof short but remarkably decent turn based RPG. Not a great story, but I liked the turn-based gameplay.
    • Plague Inc: Different kind of game. Kinda dark since you're trying to destroy the world. Fun.
    • Slay: Nice little light strategy game. Simple but rewarding and can be played in smallish chunks of time.
    • Knights of Pen and Paper: Silly RPG that's still entertaining if you're okay with the type of humor. The sequel sucks, don't bother.
    • You Must Build a Boat: I don't even know how to describe this one. It's fun though.
    • Pirates and Traders Gold: It's basically Pirates! on mobile. I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel.
    • Gurk II: Retro 8-bit style RPG... like an old ultima that doesn't take itself too seriously
    • Tales of Illirya - Fallen Knight: Essentially it's Oregon Trail in RPG world with more RPG elements and story.
Caveat - I'm not 100% certain all the above exist on IOS (most of these I played on Android)

    I second Hearthstone.

You would like this game, Kanmuk. It's casual enough to play in short bursts with your brain off, but deep enough to foster an active competitive scene and constant analytics on the meta.

Haven't played it in a couple weeks, but I always go back to it. It's easy to play on anything (PC, tablet, phone).

Please gush about me and my many positive qualities to your psychologist. Thanks.

I started playing Hearthstone. I enjoy it and hate it at the same time. I feel like I win only because of luck and me lose only because I'm stupid/other people have way better decks.

I figured I would pick a class and grind with it. I decided on warrior because that was my first legendary. I got a quest card and just spam taunt minions and win sometimes. Is this a viable strat once I learn what I'm doing?

    Yeah it is.

Here are the current most-played competitive decks and how they match up against eachother. Green is better/favorable.

So Taunt Warrior is decent against every class but Paladin and Rogue.

This is the standard decklist: http://www.vicioussyndicate.com/wp-content/uploads/Standard-Taunt-Warrior.png

One of the most fun aspects of the game for me is getting creative with custom decks, but it's a lot easier to just follow established lists when you're just starting out.

I dunno if you've tried it yet, but Arena is a lot of fun too. You draft and build a deck from a random card pool, so it's more balanced for players who don't own many cards yet.

There is some RNG to the gameplay, but not as much as people whine about. It's a bit like LoL in that regard - there are unwinnable games, but there are a lot of small things & predictive decisions that separates the good players from the majority who toil at Rank 15+.

The RNG can be a bit annoying, but I'm sure a lot of what seems like bad RNG st this point is just be being terrible and not knowing the different ways I could have overcome it, yet.

    It's fun.

However, my main problem is I hate playing against people that need 4 hours to make every fucking decision. I wish the timer was roughly 600 times faster.

The only reason I play is because I feel bad for ignoring Harper the last time he suggested a game to me (DotA), then going on to play LOL 112 hours a week for 3 years.

add me on Battle.net (Mogwai#1546) btw

Harper still bugs me to play LoL sometimes, but I'm old and shitty at it now. I just find that type of game to be mentally exhausting now more than anything, with all the twitchy/reactive gameplay.

I've just been playing with the snarky goblin default. I'll make a battlenet account later today. And also get off my ass and make a gmail account and add you guys as I intended to do like a year ago.

I find the RNG component is decreasing a bit as my deck evolves. I'm less dependent on having the exact right counter to a particular strategy in my hand at any given time, as there are now multiple options. It seems pretty much everyone at my shitty level (I am stuck at 17-18) just spams out minions and if I get the draws to kill them I win, and if I don't I lose. But even accounting for that, there still seems to be a ton of RNG with draw order, discoveries, random damage/kills, etc. So we will see how long I last. It's annoying enough losing because I'm terrible, without having to deal with losing because my deck sucks or getting bad RNG.

Arena is fun, but I keep quitting matches because peopel take way too fuckin glong to make decisions in that game mode.

I would play LoL but I refuse to learn that many champions and and keep up with the meta, and playing unranked bores the shit out of me.

Also, there seems to be no counter to that rogue minion spam bullshit unless you have a full deck without a deck of minion killing abilities. Or maybe my class just sucks against them, as you eluded to earlier.

I liked hearthstone back in the day. Haven't played in a couple of years, but definitely a well done and addicting game.
