    All this.

It's gotten even more important as I grow old and senile. I am *constantly* looking old facts and dates by searching email.

    don't delete your emails

mac OS is better than windows infinitely

windows looks and operates like shit

i have a windows PC and work macbook

i do some ui/ux for software and websites as a job and i'd put a gun to anyone's head that did something like windows (j/k that shit is really complex + hard.)

i can see why steve jobs was successful by just saying MAKE IT BETTER *GOD* but that's lame and he sucks still

    Real talk.

More shit about Windows 10 I don't like:

The search feature straight up doesn't work. It takes an eternity to spit out random "web results" and fails to find basic programs.

Their wireless networking feature has never not been clunky. It's gotten stuck in endless "connecting/disconnected" loops. The UX is horrid (you'd expect everything network-related to be easily accessible from that little internet connection icon on the taskbar, but it's not).

MS's telemetry (i.e., spying on you) can't be fully disabled without a registry hack.

The entire OS is intrusive as hell, and has been since Vista. Popups, alerts, and the big one: forced updates. I don't know how people put up with that, especially if you're not plugged in 24/7 and can't afford to wait 20 minutes for your computer to boot up because it's forcing an update down your throat because it wasn't on during the "scheduled update hours".

It's bloated, slow, has actual ads built into it, and tries really hard to force Cortana and the shitty Edge browser on you.

When you do have a problem (some obscure error code, driver fail, etc), the MS support forums are comically useless (Outsourced Indian Man suggests u reformat) and you'll probably need to buckle up for wasting countless hours troubleshooting it on your own.

I don't think nerds need to convert to OSX or anything, but shit - try Linux at least. The only reason to ever boot up Windows is to play the handful of exclusive games, which it has only by proxy of monopolizing the market share for decades.

You had me agreeing w/most of that shit but yeah, this is really minimizing things lol

Quick steam search shows 31k to 8k ratio. That's actually really good too, mac making some solid strides there... used to be more like 4 to 1 last I checked (couple years back)

yeah there's a lot. it's only a handful for me personally (Overwatch and Monster Hunter World being two big ones I've had to boot over to windows for)

Slay the Spire, Isaac, Civ 5/6, all other Blizzard games, Divinity, Dead Cells, FF14, etc are all available on OSX

Compatibility has nothing to do with the OS quality - it's all market share. Microsoft has had an 80%+ stranglehold on the market for almost 30 years. Developers have to try to justify supporting the 2% of Linux users and 1X% OSX users from a financial perspective. This monopoly is what has allowed Microsoft to get fucking lazy and ship buggy/bloated OS releases instead of something that was state-of-the-art back in the 90's when they had to actually try.

I'm sure everything you said is correct, but I use Windows without issue and I don't change because I am 45 and habits are hard to break and I see zero difference in my usage between the two outside of habit.

I also would say it's really not apples to apples comparison (LOL PUN NOT INTENDED BUT FUCKIT).

I'm not giving Microsoft free pass here, I already said there is a shitload I can criticize them on (the ads by far are the woooooorst and most unforgivable thing) but let's not pretend for a moment a system designed to be "open" (not open source, but freely installable on just about anything from convertible laptops to home-grown frankenstein rigs, to virtual machines, and an infinite # of niche enterprise scenarios) - is really something that should be compared to apple which makes and controls their entire hardware stack, w/obviously very limited # of platforms which are extremely consumer-centric.

If the mac shit wasn't way better from a pure design/integration standpoint, then they'd be doing something horribly wrong.

mine are all disabled too. you already had this convo w/agrul where he posted screenshots lol.

they only pop up in the start menu w/in the "tiles" area and yeah you can disable them. it's fucking stupid of MS to allow that shit in the first place though.
