You have a Microsoft bias, just based on everything you've ever posted about it. You've gone out of your way to cherry pick and take digs at Apple many times, lol.

It's fine to have preferences. A lot of it is probably just what we're used to and how well it serves our line of work.

Eh, you don't have to believe me. I really don't have a Microsoft bias (except for gaming I guess - which yes, makes it a gigantic bias because I'm a gamer, if you consider a functional fact somehow "biased"). The apple digs are mostly because apple fans are fucking hilarious to troll.

Why would I intentionally fight for the right to use macs at work for over a decade if I had some weird anti-apple bias lol. I spend 8+hrs a day on a mac by choice. I mean I'm pretty weird but I'm not *that* weird.

Also I agree the big button UI shit is atrocious. I disable those types of things whenever I can. I have also wondered before "what the fuck were the UI ppl thinking" but I have to assume it was based on user studies on a broad swath of people that aren't really like me at all (read: old people familiar w/windows products with bad eyesight - which is probably a gigantic market segment for them in all fairness).

I can't really explain some of their terrible design choices otherwise.

Also another plus for the apple camp... it is definitively the OS of youth, hipsters, and ppl who care about aesthetics.... and while PC fans like to make fun of that shit, it is resulting in a growing imbalance (imo) on great/beautiful native apps.

Stuff like Omnifocus or Things which by all accounts are amazing task manager apps are only made for MacOS, and when asked if they will ever support Windows, the devs typical response is "lol no". Gaming will continue to go where the majority platform is, but niche apps like this can rly make life better and Microsoft should probably do more to reverse this trend or at least slow the bleeding.

They can start with shooting the idiot who green-lighted the ads in Windows 10 lol

Neckbeard incels who seem to hate Apple more than the girl who rejected them in high school are a lot easier to troll. I think a lot of that hate stems from projected angst onto Apple users at coffee shops (FILTHY CASUALS *derisive snort*) who look like normal/hygienic people.

Apple's hardcore fanbase is insufferably smug, but that's a small % of people who use their products. I'm not into that. They've earned my business, but I don't put Apple stickers on shit or treat it like it's some club. My Steve Jobs memes are obviously tongue in cheek.

If Microsoft ever starts properly investing in usability and aesthetic, I'll get behind them again. I loved 98 and XP. They make it hard, though. I spent 10 hours fixing my wife's PC when their forced updates break tablet drivers for the fifth time. I had to do a registry edit in 2019 just to get that to work. Lots of stuff like that. Don't even get me started on trying to use a Surface tablet with Windows 8. Pure torture.

You don't live in the bay area pal, you do not know the # of people (esp. in the tech industry) who are insufferably holier-than-thou about their macbooks. I'm totally cool w/ripping Microsoft for stupidity (as I have in some of the past few posts) but these people roll-eyes and snark about Windows as if that was original, and they were part of some super secret underground movement fighting against the man lmao.

It's fun as hell to fuck w/them. :p

I'm sure it's bad in San Francisco pal. That is understandable but it kind of pushes you out of the midal objective realm.

The flip side of the Apple hipster coin is the midwestern neckbeard living with his parents who ackshullys normal ppl about their STUPID choice to buy a macbook instead of using cyberbuildcustomrigz.org to build an ultra settings gaming laptop that melts on your lap and weighs 19 pounds.

In the gaming industry, this is basically everyone and I run into them WAY more often. Neckbeards curl their lip at "I use a mac" like I'm a pro-choice advocate at a bible study. Nevermind that I was building Windows PCs when they were actual babies instead of manbabies.

I keep nothing. M'lady used to think I was hiding something because I clear my call logs and txts all the time. I delete my email and then empty the trash can. My skin crawls when I see other email accounts with hundreds of emails just sitting there taking up precious space.

let's talk about what radical upgrades I can make to my Gateway 2000 that I bought from a thrift store and installed Windows 98 SE on

it's got a sick GeForce 2 card in the AGP slot already and I plan on adding a Soundblaster Live! card to it

Yeah this happens to me all the time

As the most recent example, I lost my driver’s license (physically, not legally speaking) recently, and when I moved I needed to buy money orders from the post office in order to pay first/last/utilities (or else wait a week for USAA to ship a cashier’s check), but because the amount was so high, I needed my passport AND driver’s license numbers on the request form for the money orders. I managed to dig up a photo of my DL from like three years ago that I had emailed to myself for whatever reason and get the DL # off of that.

Old emails etc come in handy constantly for me
