I did beta for the mtg arena game. I did not enjoy the interface / display. They cropped the cards to be only the image and the deck builder is clunky in my opinion. I haven't checked back in a few months, but the cropped cards - although just cosmetic - along with the odd UI just turned me off, both of which still seem to be there.

chromebook is cool if you want to spend minimal dollars + have no need of anything but web-based computing (which is actually pretty viable if you don't give a shit about gaming)

I'd say no on that one, storage space is terrible (less than most phones now) and the Celeron processor is probably pretty bad. You'd drive yourself crazy probably.

A good place to start would be your budget. What is your budget? My work laptop is an i7 with 8g ram and an SSD, if that's in your budget go with that lol.

If you’re not too fussy, check out eBay refurbs. For $500 CDN you should be able to find a 7th or 8th gen i3/i5 with SSD. I recently bought a Dell tablet-style (similar to Surface Pro) for $680. Exact same model/specs was selling on Dell site for $1500+. Make sure seller has lots of positive reviews, and they will likely be brand new open box or manufacturer refurbs.

Microsoft site also has really good deals fairly regularly. Not seeing anything good in your range now, but worth watching if you aren’t in a rush

Yeah that one I posted earlier I think is in that price range... and JP's advice is p good. Refurbs are often well worth it if you can get them from well-rated sources.

If I wasn't looking for gaming capability, I'd probably go the used/refurb route myself.

That’s a 3rd gen processor, so battery life will suck. 4th gen was a huge boost, like from 2 hours to 6 hours for average laptop battery life.
