yeah. mm. it did not turn out as well as i had hoped/thought it would
got a new version rendering at home right now. by the time i get back to DC tmrw it should be done, hopefully it will look cooler

i think the flowers bud too quickly, hmm
it doesn't look like budding, it looks like a two-stage bloom - and the flowers open a little too soon - would it be excessively hard to make the bloom happen after the electricity hits rather than right before it does?
it's intended to look like something like:
0. darkness, the mechano-flowers are largely closed up, like flower buds
1. red lightning jumps up the cable, then up the tree, powernig up plant. this initial charge causes the rusty/metal outer shell of the flowers to first-stage-bloom, and the inner flowers/buds to turn blue w/ charge but not to bloom
2. white lightning jumps up the cable, then the tree, fully powering the mechano-flower-plant-thing and supercharging the inner flowers until they fully bloom and turn white-hot
what you said isn't hard, no; think that's a good idea, and is sort of what i'm slowly working towards. right now i feel like A) the blooming happens too fast, and B) the connection of the blooming to the electricity looks visually disjointed, like they're two independent things happening instead of one causing the other

thanks pal, still a few small hiccups but i'm mostly happy w/ it now
would really like to figure out something more interesting to do with the name reveal. originally i had wanted the inner, emissive flowers to finish blooming, and then to reach out and glom themselves on to an invisible copy of the name object, slowly wrapping themselves around it to conform to its shape and hence reveal the name. first take on that approach didn't go so well though, might need a different modifier stack for it
also might be too much, dunno. have a few other ideas, but mostly doing other stuff until one feels right
