Intel NUC Gen 8 i3 seems to be quite a bit faster than the i5 NUCs from 4-ish years ago. Zippy little bastard.

Not gonna be any good for vidya but great for a quiet little workstation in a quiet room.

Hades Canyon is dope for sure, and you're right... not that expensive.

I went w/the i3 though because it's smaller (hades canyon stuff tends to be the bigger NUCs right?) and cheaper. I've been on a bit of a spending tear lately and wanted to rein it in so I bought this almost entirely with Amazon points lol. (Since it's a home workstation, I had to get two monitors, keyboard/mouse as well... really tried to go as low end as possible and still have a good work box).

TBH for regular work tasks (vidya conferencing, having a million browser tabs open, heavy ssh/command-line work, visual studio code) this workstation actually seems to be faster than my gaming rig. I'm 100% sure it's not due to specs (main rig is over years old but still, an solid i7, 16GB RAM, nvidia card, SSD's, etc - should really be faster), but just because I haven't rebuilt it in so long I think it's just dragging ass on a lot of basics.

My gaming desktop ironically still does great with vidya games, just seems to be sluggish on heavy browser/file access. I should be not-lazy and reformat that fucker but nah.
