So I know you are all thinking the obvious. But the best way forward for the world is to own up to our mistakes. And I mean OUR!. China is the not the first country to have this happen to them. In the US we are also taking this same risk right now by eating deer that havent been tested for this new prion wasting disease. I think if this is really a 100 year event with a different population and a different atmosphere and temperature on the earth. We need to look at the Avian flu virus and other threats. We need to start spending some more money on this. If we learn anything from this virus, let it be that we need to be better prepared.

I must admit their is no risk in California that I am aware of. But funny thing is that the guy that really knew his stuff was in that interview with Rogan and he was working on a test kit hunters could buy and carry to test their deer. Thanks whoever originally posted it. I first heard him talk in early January.

In 2018 (I think) I went to an association of molecular pathologists conference. The two plenary talks were both very cool:

The first (unrelated to this post) really went everywhere. Initially it was about a global collaboration tracking changing microbe diversity across the globe and its correlation with health outcomes. The basics of it was microbe diversity has been shrinking and the diversity decreases greatly as you move from indigenous protected populations to incredibly urbanized cities. They tracked samples for several years and it was pretty cool. Then it went into specifically bacterial fauna on/in humans and health outcomes. Then they talked a lot about c-sections, and how c-sections drastically alter the microbe composition of newborns past early development. In essence, a persons composition of microbes most closely resembles their mother, but not in c-section babies because basically they don't get that instant post-birth contact w/ fecal matter. They then turned to a review of studies showing c-sections correlating v strongly with shitty health outcomes for some sorts of disease that are bigger in brazil and some other countries where basically EVERYBODY gets a c-section all the time. They performed a relatively small study they performed using mice that either did/didn't have a c-section birth. The c-section birth groups over their lifetimes had way shittier health + fat, but a group that had c-sections but then were 'contaminated' with their mothers fecal matter immediately after were cool np and their microbiome closely resembled their mothers like it should. They ended with some early results from their clinical trial rubbing shit in c-section babies faces or w/e it was pretty cool but really went a lot of places and i just remembered this entire thing even happened the moment I started to type out the thing I'm about to write out below.

The SECOND talk was from some org. They had began w/ some global initiative to track microbial diversity in 'emerging enviroments' or someshit idk i probably made that shitty term up. Basically, today humans are encroaching on previously unsullied lands and coming in2 contact with a lot of microscopic shit we've never seen b4 and we aren't primed to deal w/ it and bc of globalization it could be rly shitty. A lot of these are previously unknown viruses, etc, that could mutate and fuck us. so they want to track it and record all their genetic info. they had a second part of the talk about being prepared to perform molecular diagnostic testing on the front-lines of where these new threats emerge but how its rly difficult bc the 'front-lines' are basically africa and everywhere poor so they only have shitty equipment from the 90s.

ANYWAYS, i say that 2 let u know fais: ur fucked. Ur so fucking fucked its ridiculous. Theres a billion different motherfuckers coming for you and theyre all invisible. And u know what? they're all going to fuck u differently. Did u know there are fucking viruses that give mice and birds leukemia and shit? lmao

i probably cant answer most of em. also i take back part of that: i dont really remember how the whole 'c-section, countries, negative health outcome' sequence worked out except that brazil has lots of c-sections.
