    Go see it.

Aside from all the technical achievements, it is rare to see a movie in which the "hero" isn't completely upstaged by the villains (although Foxx and Hamm are really good). And it's even rarer to see the aforementioned achieved without having to make the "hero" into a cliche badass "anti-hero".

I voted for myself, because bootstraps.

Didn't realize this was an Edgar Wright film. I'll have to check it out.

I have never heard of this movie but it's getting an 8.6 and Kanmuk recommends it, so ima see this shit for sure. Muk talks so much about stuff that doesn't amuse him that this has to be good.

I voted for Utumno as worst father, because I assume he forces his children to spend 18 hours a day practicing the violin and doing math.

I voted for Utumno too. He probably runs around crying with them all the time trying to save them from everything and micromanaging their personalities. lol :)

I thought the same thing until I learned it was Edgar Wright that directed. He's known for a certain type of campiness... Hot Fuzz... Shaun of the Dead... World's End... Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. The name is less important to me now.

I didn't like the title, either, but it grows on you after you've seen the movie.

Edgar Wright is the best of the Tarantino disciples in that he captures all the pop-culture, film-making exuberance of Tarantino without coming across as a lesser clone (e.g. Guy Ritchie). Baby Driver is the epitome of that.

My only problems with it are that I've already had a lifetime's worth of Kevin Spacey being Kevin Spacey, and that the end end is stupid and superfluous. But I can't imagine anyone not liking to movie on some level (I'm sure those people exist, though).

I voted for Utumno because he put up a photo on facebook of his kid being licked on the face by a dog in Turkey and then the next photo was of his kid *mysteriously* ill and laying in a hospital bed.

Any more vacations to Third World countries and his kids will probably end up with rabies.

lmao that's hilarious i'm going to have to look through that album again. it think that order doesn't sound right though - he got sick during the plane ride there, and got really dehydrated because he couldn't keep anything down - even water. we ended up taking him to a clinic where he got hydration through an IV and recovered p quickly (so I think the puppy we saw was a few days after that).

    could be wrong though.

Oh weird, I'd've thought I'd recognize the name of that director, but when you mentioned his name earlier I glossed over it somehow. Yeah knowing it's him I can see how the title fits

I mean Hot Fuzz was also a terrible title but it was obviously intentionally so after seeing the movie + I love that movie

    Will probably watch this

Happened to wander past the theater just as it was getting ready to start and decided on a whim to go in.

Agree with muk about the ending. Not just stupid but also not particularly satisfying

and near the ending, Spacey turning out to be alright at the end seemed wrong somehow. That Hamm turned out to be the Big Boss Battle after having been generally nicer than the rest throughout the movie seemed out of place, (although he was a good villain). Ultimately Spacey was to blame for everything going to shit for Baby so Baby's going to him for help at the end is just kinda--I mean I get it, but it just doesn't really fit, emotionally.

But yeah overall a very enjoyable action flick.

I also want to know how they went back in time and got young Shelly from Tein Peaks to play the female lead

    Ageless -

I liked Hamm's heel turn because it was unexpected and it made sense from a character perspective. I mean, his girlfriend largely got HERSELF killed because she wanted to double fist machine guns in the wide open to look cool for the trailer, but he doesn't see it that way.

Spacey clearly loved Baby on some level. He spent half the movie looking at him the way I look at my dog when he does people things. But I agree totally that it didn't make a whole lot of sense and I overtly thought "this is dumb" as it unfolded.

I also can't decide whether the waitress is stupid/annoyinig or super charming.

Yeah Hamm's turn was fine as a thing by itself, it only felt odd in tandem with Spacey turning out not to be the final obstacle. It does all make enough sense to pass, but it was an odd reversal of expectations.

But the big flaw with the ending I think, was just them getting caught and him doing five years while she waits. It's unsatisfying to the audience and it doesn't serve the purpose of really grounding the movie in any kind of reality or moral fabric, which I can only suppose was the point of doing it. With a movie like this you might as well go full Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagan amd just have the main character out-awesome the entire world to 100% victory, imo

The waitress was above all gorgeous. I think she was charming but her plot was moronic.
Why in god's name would she go in for any of this for a guy she met twice? And then wait for him for five years--what?[/spoiler
