Well it looks like we might get boosters for pretty much anyone who really wants one bad enough. The language the CDC is putting out makes it pretty easy for anyone to get a booster. You just have to say you think your at risk at your job. They won't have the resources to check.

Pfizer Covid booster shots: CDC chief overrules panel, clears them for front-line workers (cnbc.com)

"However, Walensky reversed a decision that was rejected by the panel Thursday evening. The panel voted 9-6 against giving booster shots to adults at a higher risk of exposure to the virus due to their workplace or institutional setting."

California is now the only state with 'moderate' COVID transmission

A student looks back at his mother as he is vaccinated at a clinic for students 12 and older in San Pedro (Los Angeles County). The surge is subsiding in California.

California is now the only state with “moderate” levels of coronavirus transmission, according to data published Monday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

That puts California two tiers ahead of nearly every other state on the agency’s color-coded map of COVID-19 risk levels. Forty-eight states remain in the “high” transmission category, represented in red. Connecticut is in the “substantial” tier, represented in orange.

California had previously been in the “substantial” transmission category but improved to moderate on Monday. Puerto Rico is also seeing moderate levels of transmission, represented in yellow.

Cases and hospitalizations have sharply declined in California as the state emerges on the other side of the summer surge, driven by the highly transmissible delta variant of the virus.

The United States as a whole remains at a “high” level of community transmission, according to the CDC, with a seven-day figure of 201 new cases per 100,000.

California’s rate is 42 cases per 100,000 over seven days.

To reach the “moderate” category, seven-day case rates must dip to between 10 and 49 per 100,000.

It marks the first time the state has earned “moderate” classification since July. In June, it was in the “low” tier, represented by blue.

Health experts have long credited California’s success to the state’s higher than average vaccination rates and thoughtful virus mitigation measures, including mask and vaccine mandates.

“California has the lowest COVID case rate in the country. The data doesn't lie —vaccines work,” Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office tweeted on Monday.

The state’s virus positivity rate has dropped to 2.6% over the past eight weeks, according to data from the California Department of Public Health. About 59% of the population is vaccinated against COVID-19, slightly higher than the U.S. average of 57%.

The Bay Area is doing even better.

According to state data analyzed by The Chronicle, the Bay Area’s seven-day average daily case rate per 100,000 was nearly 40% better than California’s as a whole. Marin County has the lowest seven-day case rate in the state, followed by San Mateo County and Santa Clara County — with Alameda County, Sonoma County and San Francisco not far behind.

I guess its time to report the real winners in the COVID race since the country is starting to trend down. I guess its time to move the Caribbean.

This is the 4th one of these I have seen. This one is in the US (Cleveland clinic) 72k patients, I suspect it's not a treatment but more a preventative measure if your sinuses are inflamed regularly. Who knows ask TZT docs. Its better then Horse paste.

Intranasal Corticosteroids Are Associated with Better Outcomes in Coronavirus Disease 2019 - The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice (jaci-inpractice.org)

    Results
Of the 12,608 (17.5%) who were hospitalized, 2935 (4.1%) required ICU admission and 1880 (2.6%) died during hospitalization. A significant proportion (n = 10,187; 14.1%) were using INCS before SARS-CoV-2 infection. Compared with nonusers, INCS users demonstrated lower risk for hospitalization (adjusted odds ratio [OR] [95% confidence interval (CI)]: 0.78 [0.72; 0.85]), ICU admission (adjusted OR [95% CI]: 0.77 [0.65; 0.92]), and in-hospital mortality (adjusted OR [95% CI]: 0.76 [0.61; 0.94]). These findings were replicated in sensitivity analyses where patients on inhaled corticosteroids and those with allergic rhinitis were excluded. The beneficial effect of INCS was significant after adjustment for baseline blood eosinophil count (measured before SARS-CoV-2 testing) in a subset of 30,289 individuals.
