I don't think there would have been enough stop the steal without the virus. I also doubt he looses Georgia without the Virus either. Can't speak for PA, MI, WI. It didn't happen so its a mute point.
Well.... Not quite. I've always believed you can judge a society by they take care of their weakest and most vulnerable people. I'm a person of compassion. However... I have absolutely no tolerance for people who impose their beliefs on others and make other people's lives miserable. Yes I recognize there's a hypocrisy but... consider this.
Yea, I might be able to see that. Except you will probably find that most people are intolerant of something you don't like.
Everyone has preferences.... I happen to be intolerant of magenta. Which is fine. You might like it. But if I start going around smashing the windows of every T-Mobile business and start spreading a hate that tMobile and all its employees are blood sucking vampires that eats babies... and I do everything I can think of to eradicate the color... well.. that's taking it to a level that encroaches on other people's right to enjoy Magenta. Believe what you want to believe, just don't force it on others and don't make others suffer for what you believe. I had a LONG philosophical conversation once with a guy who was devote Christian. He could not understand why I felt it was wrong that the Christians in San Diego sometimes park giant Trucks with the words "Praise the Lord" on top of bridges that go over the main freeways. He seemed to think it was a good thing and that it was spreading goodness to people who might need it. I explained to him that its the exact opposite. They are forcing people who drive on the freeway everyday to have to see their message that they don't want to look at. They're using public property to park their giant Truck with their message... On a bridge that other people helped pay for that might not believe in their god. That it was in fact extremely disrespectful and a complete disregard for other people's beliefs. Maybe more than half the people who helped pay for that bridge don't believe in their message. Maybe it causes them agitation seeing it there everyday because they feel a group is abusing public property. I asked him, how would he feel if I parked a giant truck right next to his over the freeway that said "Praise Satan! He shares his knowledge with the world!" The guy was clearly angry and could not comprehend the point I was getting at. Thinking I'm just intolerant. And felt that my example had no merit. That no one wants to see a Truck praising Satan and that it would agitate and infuriate people. The dude was clearly incapable of enlightened thought.
https://politicalwire.com/2021/01/12/gop-lawmakers-skirt-metal-detectors/ What exactly is going on with these people?
I could care less about your sign on the highway example. I don't think people are going to revolt over that. I think the biggest risk is forcing Christian churches to have gay clergy or teach homosexuality as "sinless." I think this little baby Trumper revolt we saw at the Capitol building would be 100 times worse if people thought there was a real threat to what they perceive as the freedom of religion. Right now for example in my area, it's mostly Christians who are impeding fringe individuals that might join up with the Trumper revolt. I can see how that might be considered intolerant. At the same time gays can always go to a different church.
I don’t have time to respond to this in depth, friend. But we are starting to run a bunch of shit together: e.g. the actual Capitol Hill attacks and the bigotry of many of its members. If you want to talk about racism: of course we need to oppose racism. Nobody is arguing for *unlimited* tolerance in all situations (the basis for Popper’s comments). It’s about the cost-benefit of different approaches in different situations. Popper was not arguing that you must have *zero* tolerance of intolerance. Extrajudicial murder is different than calling someone a racist on Twitter. And you seem to be making an argument that the most extreme responses are not only justified, but necessary. And if you want to have that discussion for real, that’s cool, but we are going to have to start using math and science and shit.
I highly doubt that. Fraud speculation isn’t new: https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/12/04/many-republicans-think-election-was-fixed-thats-what-losing-partisans-often-think/?outputType=amp People on BOTH SIDES!!!!! engage in it. I think it is probably not that difficult to mobilize people that are already suspicious of election integrity to oppose election results. I think Biden could, theoretically, do the same with a large part of the DNP base. He just wouldn’t, because he’s not a cunt. At least not in that way. I think Trump was going to oppose the results virus or not. He already did it once in 2016 after *winning* and many Republicans supported him then. He was going to do it on a loss regardless and many people were likely going to believe him either way. The virus (and the Dem support of lockdowns) might have pushed a certain number of people into believing the conspiracy that otherwise wouldn’t have, but I think it still would have been a significant movement. Trump’s recklessness is dangerous virus or not, which is why I am very big on addressing @AgelessDrifter ’s topic from months ago. I really think they can find a way to make overt lying illegal from the President, or at least a breach of professional standards, without completely neutering speech. Maybe it wouldn’t be such a horrible thing if Bernie or AOC (who I am interested in protecting) have to be careful to be more accurate with their rhetoric, as well.
Yea, I respect your opinion even if I think it's probably wrong. I think we will learn more about the individuals who are charged in this affair as time goes on.
It all boils down to tax benefits and special treatment. If you wanna discriminate. Fine by me. But if you do, you do not deserve any government or state benefits whatsoever. That is my opinion on the matter when it comes to any discrimination.
I actually support losing the tax benefits for all charities and religions, regardless of this issue.
There’s something that riles me up so much about this kind of person. Harder to watch than any Fox News or Limbaugh segment. Would easily pick this guy first for the guillotines.
You know that weird thing that happens when you're reading and you realize you've just blanked out and not actually read like several pages? I have a feeling this man has mastered writing in that specific style.
America 2020, even the moderates are extreme. I'll take the German "ordnung muss sein" over the mess that is American culture these days.
