I love Adams so I wouldn't be opposed, but our front court is kind of packed already (Porzingis, Powell, Kleber, Boban). I wouldn't sacrifice Powell/Kleber to get him.

How is he only 25? It really feels like he's been around longer than that, plus he looks like he's 40.

I'd just keep him if I'm OKC.

I'm also pretty stunned at this trade in general... I didn't think Morey's algorithms would think rly highly of the most inefficient superstar in the league. Does he know something I don't?

The CARMELO stat is interesting but seems so flawed. The idea behind it is solid (let's make a stat to measure future player performance), but it famously rates Klay Thompson as a mediocre player and a bunch of nobodies as high-value players.

I'd put money on his CARMELO rating dropping after next season. Those raw accumulation stats have inflated his PER (and whatever else) for years because he's had the luxury of playing with all-time high USG% in an offense that is based solely around him. He's not going to be the centerpiece of the Houston offense and boxing out his own frontcourt or leaving his defensive assignment to go get rebounds.

Yeah, after sleeping on it, I still don't know how I feel about the trade. The one thing I like about it is that Houston has never depended on playing CP3 and Harden at the same time. So, it makes sense that they'd keep Westbrook and Harden somewhat staggered. Still, I think they need an enforcing big and stretch 4 to make it work for them. Either way, they need to have good bigs that can crash boards and defend. They are still too small for my liking.

Apparently OKC is already trying to trade Paul. Think they'll do better than the rockets?

Klay actually rated highly in CARMELO until this year, because he had a dropoff in scoring efficiency. He especially rated highly when you consider he was bascially a 3rd or 4th option.

You also have to take into account scarcity of skillset. Brook Lopez is so valuable, despite having a lower scoring load, because what he does is basically irreplaceable. Klay is one of the best shooters ever, but finding a perimeter player that can catch-and-shoot at a decent percentage and play pretty good D is easier. Not to the level Klay does, of course, but there are a lot more Danny Greens, Covingtons, Malcolm Brogdons, etc, than there are Brook Lopezes.

The more I think about it the better the trade looks for OKC looking big picture. This is The Process on Steroids lol

I really need an updated NBA Jam game for next season with this new golden age of star duos.

    Westbrick/Harden
    Lebron/Davis
    Kawhi/George
    Steph/Klay
    Durant/Kyrie

so on and so forth. Even middling teams have solid two-man squads (Doncic/Porzingis, Aldridge/DeRozan, Mitchell/Gobert, etc).

Yeah, Clips feels low, but who the fuck knows when you have so many competitive teams in the West.

I can't take their CARMELO system that seriously. The Spurs are going to outperform their projections every year.

Portland at 41-41 seems pretty low to me too, but I haven't looked at their roster.

I wish Dallas was in the east. One thing everyone agrees on is that the west will be a bloodbath.

Does any team with Carmelo on it get +1000 CARMELO points?

It feels like the east/west divide is extra-ridiculous this year. At least last year despite usual east horribleness you could say there were 4 legit contenders.

Now it seems like sixers/bucks are good and all the rest realistically have zero chance.
