Yeah. They would be able to sign someone to the mid-level exception, which is how GS got Boogie, which allows them to go over the cap (it's like $5 millionish, which isn't a ton but enough to get a ring chasing star). They would also be able to sign people to minimum contracts to go over the cap. They are going to be competitive. LeBron + AD + Kemba (who is the rumored 3rd star) + Kuzma are going to hog most of the usage, and then they can find a handful of ring-chasing asshats to eat the rest of the minutes. I don't know how much LeBron has left at this point, though, and so I'm not willing to call them the favourites. I also have no idea what Milwuakee, Toronto and Philly are returning yet, either. People have already forgotten how stacked that Milwaukee team was, Toronto just won the championship, and Philly with an Injured Embiid was a cunthair away from beating Toronto. If those teams all manage to run back their rosters (which will be very hard to do for the Sixers and Bucks), I don't think I'd favour LA over any of them. LeBron is going to be 35 next year, and he stopped playing defence 3 years ago.
