Clippers are tied for second best odds with Milwaukee. It's an insane betting market driven by free agent speculation.

Next year is going to be a ridiculously good year. No matter where AD or Kawhi end up, there's going to be like 8-10 teams with a legit chance to win the Finals now that the GS Deathstar is weakened. There are just so many stars in the NBA right now.

Is Lebron the Tom Brady of the NBA?

Pretty much. Brady is less likeable though.

Steph is the Tom Brady of the NBA:

    Leader of a dynasty

    Completely contrived fake-humble personality

Both play the pussiest possible styles their sports allow (3pt shooting vs constant underneath passes)

Both are unthreatening to white guys.

Tom Brady has Super Bowl MVPs, though.

Does this irritate the shit out of anyone else? Not talking about Steph specifically, but just in general.

People who pretend to be humble (when it's obvious that they aren't) are the fucking worst. I feel like this was an epidemic in LA. Like everyone had mastered the art of the boilerplate "I'm just so humble and blessed..." before proceeding to jerk themselves off.

I guess it's worse when whatever they have their heads up their ass about isn't actually that impressive. At least Steph Curry and Tom Brady are among the best athletes in the world. It's less justified when you were one of 50 people working on some dumb feature for a video game or went to Coachella once.

I'd say so, except Lebron wasn't loyal to Cleveland (and Cleveland sucks, unlike New England).

Lebron also probably won't still be one of the best players in the league at age 42, but I'd love to be wrong on that. Brady is kinda in his own class there.

This is a cool stat that shows how balanced that Toronto team is: https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/c0uh0s/2019_toronto_raptors_is_first_team_since_2005/

Kawhi was obviously the guy, but they had solid contributions from everybody. It reminded me a little bit of the 2011 Dallas squad.

I enjoyed watching them play - it was almost retro to see a team not rely on their backcourt so much for offense (>70 PPG came from their frontcourt). I was happy to see big Marc Gasol get a ring after spending all of his prime staying loyal to a shitty small market team.

I'm not on board with the "GS dynasty over" narrative. Maybe it is for next season, but they'll be back. They had some horrible luck.

Honestly, I think there is a lot of practical value in maintaining a humble outward persona when you're a) in the public eye, and b) in a leadership position. Also, people are contradictory, and I think it is possible for the same person to have conflicting feelings of humility and egocentrism.

But both Tom "I'm the Baddest Motherfucker on the Planet" Brady and Steph "Taking on Shit on Cleveland's Court" Curry, are so overly sanitized all the fucking time when dealing with the mainstream media, that everything they say reads like a corporate press release.

I like Tom "I'm the Baddest Motherfucker on the Planet" Brady. That's the genuine Tom right there.

They managed to keep Kuzma. So they aren't completely gutted.

They also managed to dump Lonzo.

Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks (including the No. 4 overall in 2019 Draft) for one year of Anthony Davis.

That's a hefty price to pay, but I assume the Lakers know they'll lock down Davis for a long-term max contract. Because it makes zero sense unless they're doing that, so let's assume so.

I think it's probably worth it. Moreso if they can actually surround Lebron/Davis/Kuzma with decent players.

New Orleans could be awesome in a few years. They have Zion and a massive haul of young players and draft picks to work with.

They still have $27-32m (or something. I forget) in cap space, so they should be able to get another star or could try to fill out some depth. If I were them, I would throw a lot of money at Malcolm Brogdon, and then lesser money at Reddick or Danny Green or Patrick Beverly. All guys designed to play with LeBron.

But it's the Lakers. So they will probably extend Rondo and spend all their cap space on Jimmy Buckets.

If they use that cap space on Kemba or Butler, I don't know how they even field a full roster. Here's what it looks like currently:

    TEAM CAPTAIN ISAAC BONGA

Best case scenario is they take the Heatles approach and a bunch of solid vets are willing to sign with them for the minimum.

This is going to be a top-heavy team in any event. I hope Davis and Lebron are both ready to play 40 MPG again and not get injured.

I suggest they stick with Lance Stephenson, Rondo, and JaVale... that's probably exactly what they need to round out that roster. Toughness and grit.

I can't wait until Isaac Bonga is next year's Pascal Siakam and the Lakers five-peat.

@Sear - I agree that Kemba Walker and Jimmy Butler would be bad choices. They'd take up too much cap space while providing too much overlap with the other two sars. They aren't good enough shooters, and they need the ball in order to maximize their efficiency. I don't think the dollar-to-value-added ratio is very good.

I'm usually in the "GET THE STAR, STUPID" camp. But they need snipers and defenders. Not guys who will take the ball out of the hands of LeBron and AD.

I don't think they'd be bad choices necessarily - I just have no idea how that cap situation is supposed to work if they sign a max or near-max contract.

They'd have 6 players on the roster, but two of them are scrubs nobody has even heard of. They'd basically have 4 real players and no cap space.

I don't know exactly how the salary rules work since they're so convoluted - would they be allowed to fill out the rest of their roster with minimum-salary contracts at that point?
