When trying to update my drivers, wtf does this even mean? I'm installing new drivers because my vid card is acting strange and the machine starting freezing up a couple times a day - should I just send it back instead of dicking around with it since its been less than a year since I got it?

I'm going to try a 32 bit installation, 64 doesn't seem to be working.

    did you
    - uninstall the old drivers?
    - recently install any codec packs?
    - are you sure this is a software error?
    - have you checked the hardware?
    - what are the symptoms exactly?
    - have you tried installing an older driver for your video card? (as in, not your current and not the new driver, but an older driver)

vid card freezing during games out of the blue is usually indicative of overheating probs.

if this is the symptom i'd consider getting a replacement if it's w/in warranty period.

I would agree with this. Modern video cards (last five years) are manufactured with insufficient, cheap cooling and run hotter than most of the components in a desktop system (Nvidia 8800/9800 series is very well known for running at temperatures upwards of 90 C). If the fan ever dies or malfunctions on a modern video card, you can kiss the card goodbye if not diagnosed and dealt with quickly.

Its w/in warranty - I'm sending it back. Any rec's on laptop coolers so I can keep it from happening?
