Rest in Piss. 76
the only comparable scientists now have Chinese names so
Your momma has more chins than china now so
I feel like Western countries are more than competitive in this regard. In all fairness I don’t know shit about Chinese scientists - I’ve just never read more than a couple stories about China and physics - like some entanglement experiment not that long ago.
i was making fun
but they have no reins holding them back with certain kinds of "taboo" research like stem cell/genetics and a lot of money and people.
Good point. They probably have North Koreans to experiment on as well.
Rip wheelchair brain dude
76 years what a run
A lot of Asian governments are also technocracies, and could very likely be in better position a decade or two from now because their governments and half their population are less likely to treat science as a left-wing conspiracy. Asian-Americans are already disproportionately represented at many top universities, and that could continue to go up (that is due to a lot of factors that have nothing to do with government philosophies obviously). I doubt America is going to have a dearth of qualified academics any time soon, given how competitive academic positions are becoming. but we probably don't really know what the full fallout is going to be from the retarded culture war that has been waged against learning about and testing things in America.
maybe the culture war against science is partially justified
I think you would have a hard time arguing that there isn't a left-wing bias in many scientific fields. I just spent an entire thread arguing against it in the gun control debate. But ad hominen (not the best term, but it's late and I really want to get back to reading boxscores) dismissing scientific studies wholesale is a bad idea.
I also hope Bill Nye dies, because he exists to be a strawman. There are many better figureheads than him.
narrator: it isn't
Egg man, you might be the least objective dude on the board, fullstop.
That's why I'm correct so often, because I'm not objective.
recognizing that you are not objective is the best way to combat it, esp. since no one really is - but I don't think you understand the oppositions positions at all, nor do you try to.
I understand ignorance in history and can see where people are going to end up.
edited to correct to ignorance
I'm not even gonna try and defend the hardcore anti-science rhetoric, I mean obviously some people are totally off the deep end.
Science, and politics together though are completely retarded in its current iteration, but I'm also no fan of the technocracy -- the NDT, Bill Nye's and Lawrence Krauss's of the world are model children for that movement. I don't even think Elon Musk would be that great (although I would be more than happy to give him a chance if he wasn't a filthy mudblood).
Are you confusing people with a type of government.
Rick and Morty are the closest we will ever get to his brilliance.
