it will be out before Winds of Winter is released
see you guys in 2029
Meanwhile Big Sanderson just came out with a book today, and will probably come out with 2 more books in the next year. Big Brandon ingesting copious amounts of speed in secret violation of his Mormonism, in order to deliver us our stories. What a pal.
Nah, frost mages were almost always a high priority focus/split/switch target in organized group PvP.
Evasion does not put rogues on an equal plane with warriors.
In 6 years when this server goes live, I really hope we have an adequate number of warriors.
I count for like 3 so theres that.
I never played a warrior
I loved that class and leveled it to 60 three times + barely played any other classes.
If you don't play aggressive with your balls out then it's not for you. They don't really have anything in the way of pvp disengage (AoE fear I guess) so once you charge in you have to commit to it.
I'm balls out 24/7 brah
Can someone reply to my Brandon Sanderson post. Thanks
Picked up Oathbringer because your post reminded me. I'm tempted to just wait until he finishes that entire series to read any more of them tho.
Do you like Sanderson as much as say GRRM?
I think his stuff is solid & admire how prolific he is, but I can feel how much of a nerd he is in his writing (no cursing, awkwardly dancing around writing about sex kinda like Rothfuss does, etc). It's hard to criticize him too much when he completed the impossible task of finishing Wheel of Time, though. I don't know if anyone else could have pulled that off as well as he did.
Sanderson's dialogue sucks most of the time - esp when he tries to do humor (see Shallan in WoR).
But his magic systems are extremely detailed and the worlds he creates are really interesting. Using magic to change gravity, with a complex rule system for the magic? Pretty cool. Ingesting toxic metals that give you different powers based on the type of metal? Also cool. A talking sword that trails black smoke and wants to eat souls? Fuck yes.
I don't like him as much as GRRM. GRRM's plotting, dialogue, and characters are god-tier for the fantasy genre. But GRRM doesn't write books anymore. You could read Erikson or Abercrombie if you want guys who are more GrimDark than Sanderson and are similar in terms of quality.
Do you know I still haven't finished Wheel of Time? Got stuck on Crossroads of Twilight when I was like 20. Have heard good things about the Sanderson WoT books.
man, I think it's worth finishing if you already got that far
Crossroads of Twilight was fucking awful - the worst in the series IMO, but everything after that book is better. Sanderson did a great job with the last three, and Knife of Dreams (Jordan's last completed novel) was an improvement over the brutal slog that was reading books 7-10.
I agree w/ that assessment of Sanderson. His magic system and world building are top notch, just based on the first two Stormlight books. I haven't read any of his Mistborn series.
Pretty much agree on all the Sanderson criticism. Hopefully he can get better on some of the dialogue.
I picked up Edgedancer (novella about Lift, the thief girl that can make herself frictionless and almost got executed by the Herald) along with the 3rd book. It’s a prettt quick read and I feel he does a better job with characters like her than with someone like Shallan
Ya Edgedancer was a good read.
I think Warbreaker is also worth a read, as it has connections to The Stormlight books.
I had a hard time finishing book 2 and 3 of Mistborn, but I've heard good things about the later books. Apparently it turns into a steam punk / western?
Fuck you all.
Lol books are for turbonerd virgins
Redley you can join our book club if you want.
All jokes aside that Sanderson fella did a great job with WoT. Not really sure how much he had to create for the story but still a good job
