I dunno man, that's a pretty big lead. I think Westbrook has this one in the bag.

Houston outscored Minny 50-20 in the 3rd quarter. That's fun.

Here's what Russ thinks of that:

Thibs had some great adjustments for that early in the 3rd quarter. So they went from losing a tiny bit to a whole lot.

Quite the carry job by LeBron through 3 quarters.

Why does JR Smith get so many minutes. And when he comes out of the game, why are is minutes given to Jordan Clarkson. It's as if Tyronn Lue doesn't know how simple math works. Shocking considering Missouri is known for it's excellent education system.

John Wall needs to go in the Westbrook category at this point. You have Beal and Otto Porter on your team, dude. You shouldn't be leading your team in shots by a mile.

Uncle WB and Paultavius George combined to take 65 shots and 16 free throws (so about 73 shots minus any and 1's). If you're an OKC fan, the good news is that Donovan has learned that Carmelo sucks and should only play 25 (he should play zero) minutes a game.

Carmelo really does suck now. Though I have to point out that even Paul George is statistically worse this season, as the Westbrook Effect is anathema to player efficiency.

With Anthony, it probably has more to do with him just sucking in general. He never played defense even in his prime.

Remember when people actually tried to compare the class of 2003 players (Lebron, Wade, Anthony, etc) to eachother? There's certainly no question there now about the pecking order.

I'm too new to following BBall to remember, but was Melo ever any good?

I mean there was a period where I heard about him as this basketball god (before I ever watched games and looked at stats) and I get that he has grown older and the game itself has changed since then, but a guy who plays no D and just chucks midrange jumpers all day doesn't seem like he would ever be real star material.

If you've only watched basketball for 5 or 6 years, the transformation it has undertaken probably really doesn't resonate with you. We've really gone from an era where isolation-heavy heroball was glorified, and the Carmelo Antony and Kobe Bryant's were the poster boys of that and media darlings. There was a point where people called Carmelo THE MOST UNSTOPPABLE OFFENSIVE FORCE IN THE NBA, despite his career-high 56.8 TS% and 51.1 eFG% being off-years for LeBron or Durant. Nobody cared about defence or playmaking back then, it was all about how much assassin blood you had flowing through your veins. DRAGON ENERGY.

But we've gone too far the other way now. ISO scoring *CAN* still be useful, and Carmelo actually WAS among the best at taking last-second shots in the NBA (although the sample is always small with that). He was good, he just wasn't the superstar he is made out to be.

Yeah, that makes sense. I actually went and looked at his numbers, he put up some crazy PPG (on meh efficiency) for a long time.

I actually kindof feel bad for him because it must be hard to face up to the fact that, not only are you older, the game has changed and turned you into a dinosaur. I mean yelling at the assistant coach for not putting you into a rotation as the game was turning around (because you're not on the floor) - ouch, has to be a tough pill to swallow.

Then again he gets paid obscene money for being useless so yeah nevermind I don't feel bad anymore lol

    lmao @ Westbrook

nice <40% FG average for ur yearly first-round playoff exit

He was good-to-great offensively when he played for Denver and even for a few of the years in New York.

Watch him now and it looks like a completely different player. He gets about half of those points with speed/athleticism that he either doesn't have anymore or doesn't care enough to use.
