gemini is decent, in a winklevoss kind of way. i bought all mine on coinbase but they suspended my account recently because i wouldn't send them all kinds of crazy personal information. They wanted a linkedin profile lol. I havent bought in a few months either. and ive never sold on coinbase. IRS is going apeshit on them im pretty sure. I wish there was a nice secure swiss bitcoin exchange or something ha.

ive been hodling bitcoin for a couple of years now. I've bought from the low $200's and even some as high as $800. Its been a wild ride. I stopped speculating on a daily basis a while back as it was bad for my health. Now i dont even check its price all that often. Its been a wild ride.

I caved aand drove to toys r us yesterday morning. No line walked in and bought it. Love zelda. Got about 4 hours in when my kid went to sleep. System is pretty dope. No other games out really. It's basically a zelda box. First game I've played in a long time I wasn't instantly bored with.

40$ a month unlimited data. Is there a catch? Is that for prepaid too?

My T-Mobile prepaid deal is $30 a month, with a 5GB soft cap. The Verizon deal sounds kinda better.

I mean its like 20$ a line once you have the service. we have 4 lines at the moment, pay like 80$ for the unlimited plan then 20$ for each phone line. so in contrast adding a line for home internet costs 20$. adding two would be 40$.

yeah 22GB @ full speed, throttled if their tower is in any way "saturated".

i guess ill find out soon what they mean.

It should be illegal for them to advertise unlimited data.

i just dont know what to think these days. one day they tell me one thing. the next they tell me another.

at least with this new plan i can double shotgun with double MIMO antennas(or just MIMO antenna i think) and theoretically get in the 40Mbps range for about $40 a month. (when tied in with my other lines)

I watched the sci-fi channel version on mushrooms and then immediately watched it again. It was like magical.

Dune is my favorite book. The og dune movie is pretty badass. I think they did a great job with it. I love how the inner monologue is spread through it too instead of the typical Hollywood style of butchering shit and leaving out 90% of the meat. I think it would be hard for anyone to improve on the old movie unless they copied it's style and updated the special effects.

Last time I went to taco Bell they had raised all the menu prices. Like they decided to use quality ingredients.i this k they just increased their menu prices.

I live in an area where their map doesnt hit. its mostly at&t/tmobile kind of coverage from what i can tell. but im definitely in a black zone for them. verizon is legit the only carrier that has service where i'm at. it sucks.

But seriously. I have avoided all of the updates and have a perfectly functioning maybe-about-to-melt-my-nightstand-at-night phone.
They said they were going to cut service to them on January 27th.
Also fuck those guys. I wish any other goddamn service provider have service out where i live.

Tech Heads / Re: 4K HDTV's as Monitors
« on: January 23, 2017, 05:27:11 PM »
I've been curious myself. I've loved having dual monitors but would be cool to get 1 large monitor and be able to leave SLI on max graphics instead of gimping one card to run the other monitor (probably explaining that wrong.)

Mainly I want like a 40" 4k curved screen. But my monitors are 27" i think and only got them a year or so ago for 170$ each. Be a big waste to buy a new one anytime soon. My last monitor lasted me like 8 years lol.

I dont know how old u guys are.. but since last year ive pretty much moved everything into bitcoin.
Ive kind of been buying in steadily since the $280 range. overall im about 30% up in green.
Ive got about half into hashnest PACMIC5 which is sort of similar to a bank CD.
about a quarter into hashnest cloud mining and then the rest i just speculate with in exchanges (coinbase GDAX and Gemini Trust)
I cant say its the most smooth move but its definitely been profitable. and its fun. plus, fuck banks.

2.5 is plenty fun for me. bugs only happen to me every so often, and its basically got the feel of a really big FPS game with insane vehicles. i love being able to hide out and wait for people trying to run missions. People fly around in groups so its not easy to sneak attack but sometimes it leads to epic battles. no matter what, this game is going to be great. because it already is.

Synth's Book Club / Across The Nightingale Floor - Lian Hearn - Fantasy
« on: December 13, 2016, 10:16:16 AM »
Really enjoyed this series. If you like feudal Japan and ninjas, this is a very well written book.
Quote from Amazon~

Across the Nightingale Floor is a well-paced and orchestrated historical fantasy set in an imaginary feudal Japan-like setting.
Teenage Tomasu lives in a remote mountain village among a people called "The Hidden" who are a secretive and persecuted caste. One night his village is massacred by the chief warlord, Iida. Tomasu pulls a trick and escapes into the mountains and is saved by another warrior lord, Otori Shigeru. Otori takes Tomasu in as his son, renames him Takeo, and the young man begins to learn the way of the warrior. It soon becomes apparent that he possesses the skills of the assassin class known as "The Tribe" which include superior hearing, stealth, invisibility and the ability to leave a "second self" behind. Later, he learns to put people to sleep.
Meanwhile, a second plot told in the third person involves Kaede, a young woman who is the daughter of a lord but held hostage to keep her family from considering an uprising. The warlords are to use Kaede as a pawn in an arranged marriage with Otori. Things get complicated because of a certain Lady Maruyama, and then Takeo's feelings toward Kaede. A little Shakespearean tragedy within a Japanese setting makes for plenty of intrigue.
Takeo makes an interesting and likable protagonist, and I found myself cheering for him and all the challenges he had to face. The side characters were also colorful, with heroic Otori Shigeru, the mysterious teacher Kenji, the doomed Lady Maruyama, jinxed Kaede, and more. You know some of them will play larger roles in the following two books.
I wondered about this book being a young adult novel, because while the language and sentence construction read fairly simply, there is graphic violence and some sex that should be for a more mature audience. The dialogue was sometimes stilted and overly formal, but that's the way it is in Japan, and for the most part Hearn makes this work. I also liked the author's choice of pseudonym, presumably after the great Japan historian Lafcadio Hearn.
I came away wanting to know more about The Hidden and The Tribe, and hope the subsequent books reveal more, because I'm eager to continue this series. I thought the first book came to a satisfying resolution, while setting us up for things to come. Across the Nightingale Floor is an enjoyable read and definitely for those interested in Japan.

Man, i wish i could trim the nights dawn trilogy to only include the joshua calvert stories. thats my favorite character.
Same with Peter Hamiltons other series, the one with the "Waterwalker" in it, i fuckin LOVE the waterwalker stories.

it only takes a couple of minutes to switch back to plastic. what are you trying to make? Most parts ive made kind of sucked for real life use. the regular (easiest) PLA plastic is easy to break if its used for anything really useful. I messed around with PETG and Nylon, both being incredibly strong. Mostly i just made butt stocks and dumb accessories for my AR-15 haha.

Why not make an AR-15. Also, create a "tactical spatula" that goes on the rails for making breakfast and a baby rattle so your gun will babysit too.

You can print the lower receiver. but not much else that is necessary. im not sure which direction your sarcasm is going so ill just leave the rest alone.

Also, if Bernard thought he was a real person, why didn't he wonder why he never pooped?

episode 8 or 9 the bandit dude is taking a piss when the madam comes out of the night before the sexy time.
So they piss.. maybe they poop too?

Well, the actual prints are fairly cheap. I'd guess maybe $1 a vase in clay (like the size that you buy with flowers in it at a grocery store once a year, a foot tall, 6 inches wide).
But I dont know anything about the kiln costs, i know they are dirt cheap because they are huge heavy brick things that people buy for their artistic kids then end up never using it and it sits in a garage for years. I cant see it using more than a dollar or two of electricity in a firing.
Glazes must be pretty cheap too, from what ive seen.

I'd say like $3-4 a vase.
the Extruder setup that replaces a normal 3d printer extruder was probably $850, since i had to order it from italy and paid some retarded taxes. fuck VAT.
Delta printers can be 3d printed for the most part. But if you want a nice one i'd pay like $1000 for a high end one, like a rostock max(though im sure there are better ones). 3D printing is such a pain in the ass that having a nice sturdy machine makes print errors way fewer.

Also, this fucker can print in play-doh!

One of the cooler things i recently read about is they make this plastic-copper filament mix thats like 85% copper, after you print you throw it in a kiln and fuse the copper while melting the plastic out and you end up with a 3D printed whatever that is 99.9% copper. I fuckin love copper so i want to try that out sometime, especially if i can procure a kiln.

People are getting pretty mad scientist on them, i dont think it will be much longer before you can buy a single machine that can print in plastic, clay, soft metal, and then convert into CNC mode to trim and cut.

I love the hobby, but its hard to find time for all the cool shit you can do with one.

Yeah i use the wasp clay extruder. Its the only one i really know of. Not a huge community do ceramics at this time. You modify any file from a normal 3d printer just enough so that the softer clay will still hold up, usually just making walls thicker or choosing files that dont have weird overhangs or pockets of air in them.

Figured I should chip in since this forum is dead. 2 weeks tops from closing down, especially since utumno has a vive and a new job.

So I thought I'd share one of my side hobbies. I've been fucking around with 3D printing with clay. Porcelain mostly. I'm going to try to pick up a kiln for $100 bucks but it's a 2 hour drive so I haven't been able to yet. So far I'm just printing vases and shit. I run a delta printer that has a build volume of like 16" x 8". Bigger in the vertical axis. So here I shall include some of my successful prints.
Omg utumno you need to modify to photo size. Okay this is all I can do.
